Another Opportunity to Create, Inspire & Give Back
If you missed the opportunity to participate in our recent Activity Drive for Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, there is another chance to make a difference.
In recognition of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Boonville Lions Club and Stoney Shire & Company have teamed up for a new community drive benefiting the KEYS Program, running now through October 4.
Once again, the focus is on creativity.
We are collecting new craft kits, creative starter kits and art supplies that can give kids an opportunity to draw, paint, sketch, build, design, make and explore something new.
Our recent drive showed just how much our community can accomplish. Together, 369 activity items were collected and delivered to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.
But the number was never the most important part.
What matters is what can happen when one of those activities reaches the right child.
A good starter kit can be more than something to pass the time. Having the materials and tools needed to actually make something can provide a distraction during a difficult day, give a child something to look forward to and create an opportunity to discover an interest or skill they may not have explored before.
Maybe they learn to sketch.
Maybe they discover painting.
Maybe they make something they are genuinely proud of.
Or maybe, for a little while, their attention gets to be somewhere other than what they and their family are going through.
That is why we are doing it again.
How You Can Help
We are asking our community to donate new craft kits, art supplies and creative starter kits appropriate for children and teens.
Donations can include drawing and sketching supplies, painting kits, jewelry-making kits, sewing and fiber crafts, building and design projects, craft kits and other hands-on creative activities.
Donations will be collected through October 4, 2026, with two drop-off locations available in Boonville:
Stoney Shire & Company
116 Main Street
Boonville, NY 13309
Erwin Library & Institute
104 Schuyler Street
Boonville, NY 13309
The drive is being held in collaboration with the Boonville Lions Club and Stoney Shire & Company, with donations benefiting the KEYS Program and the children and families they support.
Whether you contribute one small kit or a whole collection of supplies, it becomes another opportunity for a child to create something, explore something new and hopefully find a few more smiles along the way.
Our community just showed what it can accomplish with 369 activities headed to Golisano Children’s Hospital.
Now we have another opportunity.
Let’s see what we can do together through October 4.
